What is the inspiration behind your designs?
I’m focusing on old, bold styles (back 300 years) and creating new embroideries and prints through the help of oldies.

What are the key elements for you when designing a collection for each season?
I’m focusing on all seasons because most of the clients live overseas & I choose fabric accordingly so that my clients can wear & we focus on prices too.

What challenges did you face when launching your brand?
I don’t compete with anyone and when you don’t compete, you face less challenges. But there are many challenges but one of that is how to sell now

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for future is to focus on franchising of my label ‘Pooja Motwani’

What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India? 
If you are loyal to your customers, you will have good clients and if you are focused on your goals, no one can stop you.

What advice would you give to young women readers who want to follow a similar career path as you? 
If you are thinking to start something then remember, friends & family wont buy anything from you , your focus should be outside that circle. If you think you can do it then don’t wait,  just start & be positive the work wont disappoint you.

What sparked your interest in fashion? 
My dad because he owns a clothing store & designer Ritu Beri – I always wanted to become like her.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company? 
Many lessons – one of them is never give credit to anyone because in the end, you will end up losing the relationship and nothing is more than earning a relation ! Money, you can always earn but a relation is really hard to earn.

How would you describe your brand?
Label Pooja Motwani started in 2004-2005 and today we have reached to almost all countries and we have done more than 600 multiple exhibitions in 15 countries .Our motto is to give best quality & services to our client worldwide. We attend clients at our designer studio and we offer special services to our international clients through Skype or video shopping. You can say we provide live shopping worldwide. I have recently done a fashion show in Santa Clara and Hong Kong and I promoted Sindhi Ajrak.

Namrata Harjani is the proud owner of the label CLOSET AURORA. She caters to clients all over the globe with her bespoke clothing.

Her work includes celebrity features from Bollywood and the TV industry.

What is the inspiration behind your designs?

Inspiration for my designs have always been that happy client smiling and glowing in awe of confidence from feeling beautiful.

What are the key elements for you when designing a collection for each season?

Key elements that I’ve always kept in mind while designing a Pret collection or bespoke wear is comfort. If the person wearing it, is not comfortable then it can make the garment fab or drab. Trends change with season but comfort is a constant.

What challenges did you face when launching your brand?

Initially while launching my label, my challenges were understanding the market as a label which caters to all age groups.

What are your plans for the future?

In future, I do plan to open horizons to menswear and a affordable yet quality line of clothing. Where quantity shopping won’t disappoint a fashionable heart.

What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?

There is no other key other than Client Satisfaction for success in business endeavors. Just working hard with your heart and soul can work magic anywhere. Women are magical multitaskers .

What advice would you give to young women readers who want to follow a similar career path as you?

My advice to all women readers who aspire any path of career would be just smile, put your best foot forward and victory will be walking your way.

What sparked your interest in fashion?

My interest in fashion sparked up as a hobby to make clothes for friends and that struck career chords in me.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company?

When your profession makes you smile and happy, it never will feel worthless. Since i started my fashion label I learned that trend has to be a part of the priority but has to be comfortable to make the client happy.

How would you describe your brand?

My brand CLOSET AURORA is my pride. The feeling of putting a smile on a happy client with a pretty ensemble is a bliss. At my label, my priority is nothing but making my client happy and comfortable. With any budget, we at Closet Aurora try to do our best.

What is the inspiration behind your designs?

The inspiration behind my designs is an ethnic Indian woman who strives to provide the best for everyone around her and completes her tasks with beauty and grace.
For my interior and furnishings, I always keep on building up from colours and shapes to form new designs. Going by the tag line of my brand – an essence of the past, I create all the designs keeping it in mind.

What are the key elements for you when designing a collection for each season?
The key elements are comfort, style and elegance while designing my outfits. Also, I like to incorporate a homely feeling to the furnishings and interiors.

 

What challenges did you face when launching your brand?

Initially, it was extremely hard to handle the labour, clients, etc. alone but then I learned how to successfully juggle between all the aspects.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to expand my brand to foreign countries in the near future.

What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?

For success in business in India, you must know how to efficiently carry out all production activities. Also, one has to be patient and calm when seeking returns.
What advice would you give to young women readers who want to follow a similar career path as you?

For the young ones I have only one advice- trust your struggle! The passion and energy the young kids have is tremendous and they must put it to good use.

What sparked your interest in fashion?

When I was young, I was always keen on dressing myself up and would always have an urge to design and style clothes. My interest always fell in creative areas and I believe interiors and furnishings gave me a huge platform to showcase that.
What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company?

The biggest lesson that I’ve learnt is that being consistent and dedicated is essential if you want to achieve success in any industry or field.

How would you describe your brand?

My brand is an amalgamation of class, authenticity and luxury. It’s a blend of Indian culture with the rest of the world.

My brand, Nexus has been in the market from the past 22 years and now I’m launching a luxury sister concern by the name of Karmanya- The Heritage Collection. It will showcase my high end fashion related creations

Trendsetter of the Week : Kanya Kishnani

A diction expert and a fashion blogger, a communication and a behavior coach, Miss Kanya Kishnani, is an anchor who holds credit to host events from all genres vis-a-vis fashion, corporate, international brands, pageants, awards, launch events, and fundraisers to highlight a few domains.

Kanya holds an MBA in Human Resources from the prestigious PACE University in New York City and during her stay in America, she was the official emcee for three years at a party that witnesses the most glamorous side of Indian diaspora in New York City called ‘Jalwaa’.

Fashion is her passion and Kanya also ran a high couture studio and a grooming academy for some time when she returned to India and later decided to not commercialize her passion as much.

Presently, she works with a lot of societies that promote Women Empowerment through various events by being their official emcee and has the rare caliber to add a flavor of her rich and invigorating international experience to each event that she becomes a part of.

The key to professional and business success in India is just self motivation and confidence and once they have that, they have ARRIVED. I personally have always been a fashion person and love the way I dress and carry myself. Hence that was my spark when I started to explore the world of fashion.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company?

The biggest lesson that I have learned since I started the company is DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING FOR free. It has no value and pays no gratitude either. So when it comes to business, be professional in cash or kind but no FREE BUSSINESS.
