What sparked your interest in jewellery design?

I am a Hyderabad based jewellery designer & a graduate from GIA, New York.

I am an artist and I was keen about creative works from my childhood. I love creating things and the process of designing. With passion for jewellery and love for art I turned to be a jewelry designer.

Unlike many people in the market who re-create designs, I wanted to get into market with my own ideas and designs. Jewelry designer Suhani pittie was my inspiration from beginning of my career; I always adored her for her classic styles and unique jewelry.

How would you describe your brand?

I created Tarkshya to make one of a kind and unique Jewelry. All collections are made for classic lovers and for those who like fancy. Every piece is made with a promise of being new and never before seen styles.

My focus is majorly on creating contemporary & classy jewelry and to make every piece unusual by adding rich colors, varied textures, bold lines and most-interesting materials. Our jewelry is not only chic and contemporary but exceptionally well made.

Tarkshya makes jewelry that looks and feel classic without scary price tag. A great deal of thought and care goes in every piece, from sourcing of unique gemstones to designing to making, we strive to make everything new and picture perfect.

What is the inspiration behind your designs?

This is the most interesting and important part of making our jewelry. We draw inspiration from nature, architecture and world history. Everything is eye catching.

We follow the complete design process and make the final designs. We make sure every collection has a story i.e. we convey a whole theme behind our work through our jewelry.

What are the key elements for you when designing a collection for each season?

The most important element will be the trend. In every collection, we follow the forecast and implement those trends. Later comes reviews and then the market response of our previous collections. We also make sure that there is no similar design already existing in market.

And we always want Tarkshya to be recognized for its design styles, so we definitely strive for following one kind of style throughout.

What challenges did you face when launching your brand?

Major challenge was acceptance of contemporary jewelry by the people.

Contemporary jewelry in Silver was hardly available in the market. By now people were already buying contemporary jewelry made of cheaper materials. So, it was little challenging for us to impress them with our price tags. Our designs played a major role then, they were the whole concept which made the customers accept us.

What are your plans for the future?

Tarkshya is selling in two multi designer stores in AP and Telangana for now. We are planning to expand it to other cities soon. We want to create more unique designs and also want to introduce jewelry made of unique materials.

And coming to myself as a designer, I am looking to enhance my knowledge and also be part of design competitions and shows happening around the world.

What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?

Hard work, dedication comes first. And never get discouraged and give up, every failure is a learning step. The desire, willingness and ability to learn new skills and habits can contribute to any business women’s success.

Holding onto ideas and practices that are and continuously enhancing our skills is very important.

What advice would you give to young women readers who want to follow a similar career path as you?

Be clear about the sport you are picking and be the best in it. Always try to develop your own signature style. Transforming your creative vision into a piece of wearable art is both exciting and satisfying. Don’t try to chase the market instead, chase your own ideas.

Look what’s out there so you know what not to do, then find your own truth and try to be original, then you’ll stand out

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started your company?

Limited professionalism amongst the industry was a big issue for me. Dealing with the manufacturers is the toughest thing ever I faced here.

Initially it was also very tough for me to understand how to reach the customers as I was not into product customization. Later I found that multi-designer stores would be best idea to do that.
